WHY DO WE GIVE
Giving is an act of worship, obedience and submission. Giving is investing into the Kingdom of God and laying up treasure in Heaven. God the Father gave through the sacrifice of His most precious treasure, His Son, Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
We should see our tithes and offerings not only as forms of worship to rejoice in what we have been given, but as seed we sow into the kingdom. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 says "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound in you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."
We give because God the Father first loved us; He gave us life, salvation and freedom from hell. He gave us the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, who daily guides us and is our guarantee of Heaven. He gave us Jesus. Why would we not give?
